Higher Web Performance
and Lower Operating Costs
BUILT BETTER TO LAST LONGER
ACPT has been developing composite applications for almost four decades. The filament winding fabrication process, a core ACPT capability, successfully produces composite rollers to meet and exceed our customer's expectations. Nobody has been designing or manufacturing composite rollers longer than ACPT. Our knowledge of composites and our experience with roller design and manufacturing are unequaled. With numerous specialized coatings and finishes, ACPT routinely achieves what others consider impossible.
The technology used by ACPT in the filament winding process produces laminates that are extremely accurate, efficient and repeatable. This means a consistent superior product is produced every time. We produce low void laminates using computer-controlled processes that deliver outstanding performance and fatigue properties. Paying close attention to resin content, bandwidth, fiber placement and lamina thickness, we carefully control all parameters to ensure the highest quality product possible. In addition to consistency, and quality, the technology also gives ACPT the capacity to produce products that may be unique. Winding capacities range from a multi spindle 4-axis machine to a 4-axis machine capable of winding parts up to 40 feet long and 12 feet in diameter.
CUSTOM DESIGN
ACPT can economically custom design and build composite rollers to maximize performance for weight, inertia, critical speed, and deflection for your most demanding applications.
PRECISION MACHINING
Precision composite machining is a key ACPT capability. Rollers are trimmed to precise lengths and precision ground to exacting tolerances to meet our customers’ specifications per industry standards.
COATINGS
ACPT offers a wide selection of proprietary finishes and coatings applied to their rollers and core shafts to satisfy customers most demanding applications.
-
Rubber – Metal Spray
Ceramic – Grooved
-

BALANCING
Computer aided balancing instrumentation and software provides critical data to the operator ensuring fast and accurate imbalance correction. All dynamic balancing is conducted in accordance with ISO 1940 g2.5 as standard.
ACPT composite rollers are used day after day in some of the world’s harshest environments. Improved process, reliability and product consistency is achieved with the increased corrosion resistance and reduced weight of our composite rollers.
Manufacturers rely on ACPT composite rollers to extend bearing and seal life while also reducing overall vibration and lowering the required number of operator adjustments to maintain ideal process parameters. Converting machinery OEMs frequently use ACPT composite rollers to improve web quality, production rate, and performance.
Time and again ACPT’s technology combined with composites have consistently met and exceeded their clients’ expectations. If high performance and lower operating costs are important when making the right decision; the choice to use ACPT composite rollers isn’t only the right choice but should be your only choice.
-
Composites are much lighter than metal rolls and shafts; the result is lower rotational inertia for higher production speeds with easier start-ups and shut-downs
-
Composites are stiffer and more stable; this limits machine wear and quiets whip resulting in a reduction of web damage and failures.
-
Composites can lengthen the life of associated equipment, rolls, bearings, brushings and journals
-
Composites increase web speed while reducing scrap caused by line tension.
-
Composites reduce the need for synchronizing drives and controls.

PERFORMANCE COMPARISON
Composite materials and processes present a variety of solutions for the numerous niches in converting. Best results are dependent on precise technical advice. ACPT’s experienced staff will assist you in selecting the most effective composites for your application and objectives.
LOW/LIGHT TENSIONING
Composites excel on thin webs, where low wrap angles and high speeds require low inertia and light tensions. Reduce scrap due to wrinkling, stretching and scratching and increases productivity as well as profits.
Speed Comparison
Composites offer up to 70% increase in web speed over traditional metal rolls, plus a reduction in deflection.
Inertial Comparison
The lower, the better. Lightweight composites offer a low as 1/5 the inertia of metal rolls for quick starts and stops, and with less breakage.
